Active Leicester runs group exercise classes across leisure centres in the city. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a qualified group exercise instructor who wants to help grow and develop our programme. We offer a suite of classes including Zumba, HIIT, Legs and Tums, Spin, and many more. We are particularly looking for instructors with experience delivering Yoga and Pilates classes.
Shift Pattern
You will work as a Casual Group Exercise Instructor, selecting as many shifts as you wish on an ad‑hoc basis. Shifts may be during the day or evenings. Leisure centres are typically open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, Monday to Sunday. The role will be based at one of our leisure centres.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver group exercise classes to Active Leicester members, creating a safe and welcoming environment for physical activity.
- Prepare the activity space, set up and dismantle equipment before and after sessions.
- Develop and supervise a programme of exercise, assess participants’ fitness levels, and provide expert advice to users of the service.
- Play a key role in expanding the health and fitness offering at Active Leicester and help deliver our vision.
What You’ll Need
- Appropriate Level 2 award in Group Exercise (e.g., Exercise to Music, Group Cycling, Bootcamp) and previous instructing experience.
- Good understanding of devising and delivering engaging group exercise classes for participants of varying abilities and diverse backgrounds.
- A passion for physical activity and knowledge of barriers to participation, with strategies to increase engagement.
- Excellent communication skills, high levels of customer service, and the ability to appropriately deal with irate or distressed customers.
- Ability to motivate and encourage members of all ages so everyone feels confident within your sessions.
Salary & Hours
Hourly rate: £17.30. Casual hours on an ad‑hoc basis. Contractual hours: N/A.
