Job Overview
Position: Part‑time Tutor (Up to 10 Hours Per Week, Permanent) at Leicester Adult Education. Leicester Adult Education offers a broad range of courses and community‑based provision. We support a diverse student community and aim to prepare adult learners for today’s workplace. We need qualified teachers in Business and Accounts to provide high‑quality learning experiences that promote achievement, retention and progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver face‑to‑face and online courses to adult learners using engaging resources and methods that encourage active learning.
- Maximise attendance, retention and achievement; monitor progress to ensure outcomes and success rates are met.
- Use technology confidently, including Google Classroom, Google Meet and other relevant applications.
- Attend regular meetings, CPD sessions and enrolment meetings; assist with exams.
- Travel to various settings and schools across Leicester or deliver courses online as part of a blended learning approach.
- Work outside normal office hours, including evenings, to meet learner needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Subject‑specific qualification at an appropriate level (e.g., Level 3 or 4 in Accountancy).
- A recognised initial teaching qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Maths and English GCSE grades A* to C or equivalent.
- Experience in an accountancy or bookkeeping role.
- Familiarity with accounting software packages such as Sage and AAT.
- Commitment to adult learning and advocacy for inclusion and equality.
Contract & Compensation
- Contractual hours: 10 per week.
- Salary range (pro‑rated for part‑time, term‑time hours): £26,448 – £28,868 per year, with potential progression up to £30,168.
- Appointment subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
Location & Region
Central region – Various locations across Leicester City.
