We’re looking for a Housing Development Officer to bring project‑management skills to help Leicester secure additional affordable housing.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide decisive and effective leadership to project teams to deliver new affordable housing via council homes and partnerships with other providers.
- Implement the Council’s key strategic priorities to increase new affordable housing and lead site appraisals to build a pipeline of opportunities.
- Identify, investigate and assess potential of existing properties and sites for affordable housing provision.
- Give developers pre‑planning advice on affordable housing options.
- Negotiate and comment on planning applications on behalf of the Director of Housing.
- Identify and secure investment for affordable housing provision in the City, including bidding for funding from Homes England.
What You’ll Need
- Substantial experience of project management and significant relevant experience or a related degree or professional qualification.
- Strong ability to lead and motivate project teams in initiating and delivering newbuild council housing projects and private housing acquisitions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to explore, assess, and advise on new initiatives and opportunities, and to prepare and present reports, business cases and presentations.
- Background in Housing, planning, urban regeneration or a construction‑related discipline, with knowledge of problem‑solving and analytical skills needed to assess sites and innovative proposals.
