Are you passionate about providing key support to our busy Property, Highways & Planning Legal Services team? The Property Team is integral to the proper functioning of many services within the Council, providing support and expert advice. Join our busy yet well-established team of professionals. Surrounded by expertise you’ll work in a supportive environment which offers the opportunity for self-development. We have a full time, fixed term contract working 37 hours per week (for 12 months to cover maternity) and a part time, permanent contract working 18 hours per week. Working a hybrid home/office system, although you will be required to attend the offices once or twice a week. You’ll receive a structured induction and daily support from the team and Principal Lawyer.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll manage a varied and interesting caseload, undertaking a range of legal work as well as providing administrative assistance and support to lawyers.
  • You will draft and review standard legal agreements such as Right to Buy transfers and residential care charges as part of your own caseload.
  • You’ll prepare and deal with Land Registry applications, obtain property searches, conduct research of Land Registry titles, complete short-term leases and assist with post-completion matters on property, planning and highways transactions.
  • You’ll organise the sealing and filing of hardcopy and electronic traffic regulation orders and various agreements and maintain the Sealing Register.
  • Daily, you’ll liaise with fee earners and external solicitors in relation to cases and to discuss low level legal matters.
  • Weekly, you will organise the scanning and circulation of Legal’s post.
