Play an important role in the day to day running and monitoring of all Server hardware and software, SAN Storage, Databases, Backups, Microsoft 365 Tenant and other key infrastructure such as Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
Currently 11 members strong, you’ll join the server team whose primary aim is to maintain the Physical Data Centres along with all the server infrastructure be that Physical or Virtual. We also secure and keep up to date all Server Operating systems and hosted applications. Being at the forefront of working with and deploying Cloud based solutions as and when required.
Based out the Data Centre on Anstey Lane but currently working from home. You’ll be expected to work from the Data Centre as and when required to fix hardware issues, receive deliveries, and attend meetings with the team, internal teams and third parties. You’ll also undertake a rota-based system to take calls on weekends. With some out of hour’s work required from time to time to deal with issues, the deployment of new hardware or software in line with business requirements.
What you’ll be doing:
- Day to day, you’ll deal with and resolve calls logged for the Server Team in Service Manager, monitoring back up jobs, working on or with other members of the team on existing or new projects and executing Request for Change, Service, and Information request activities.
- Troubleshooting hardware and software related issues. You’ll investigate and carry out the necessary work to update hardware and software.
- Providing expert advice on technical solutions appropriate to the division.
- Forming close working relationships with other members of the team, as well as with other teams in the division such as the Infrastructure, ITSM and Application Support teams.
- Working with third party companies to deploy, support and troubleshoot, including companies such as Microsoft, Dell, Civica and Northgate.
- Attending regular team briefs, project meetings with internal teams or external partners for the deployment of a new project or to troubleshoot ongoing issues.
What you’ll need:
- A team player who can forge good working relationships with internal colleagues and external partners.
- A keen interest in all areas of work undertaken by the Server Team and a willingness to stay abreast of new and emerging technologies.
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of working with Microsoft Windows Server Operating systems, PowerShell, Microsoft Active Directory on-premise and Azure Active Directory, Microsoft DNS, Microsoft DHCP, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Exchange on-premise/Online, backup software, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure and Data Centre support and maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, being discrete, communicating on all levels, and working on your own initiative while being flexible.
- Ability to absorb and implement new knowledge quickly but not be afraid to ask questions of colleagues.
