Help keep streets clean and tidy for residents and visitors to Leicester.
Cleansing Services provide street cleaning operations to maintain a clean environment across the city. We work in the heart of the communities to ensure local areas are clean, safe, and free from environmental issues. We take pride in the work we carry out and in providing an attractive place to live.
You’ll be provided with the necessary equipment to carry out the role efficiently, as well as a uniform. You’ll be able to walk approx. 10 miles a day, in all weather conditions and be able to work different shifts patterns.
This is a full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week. Hours of work are between 5.15am to 8.30pm a full driving licence is not essential. The working location of this is Castle Park Depot, 90 Leycroft Road.
We also offer a 12.30pm – 8.30pm shift. This will be discussed at interview. The working location of this is City Centre based and You’ll be required to hold a full driving licence preferably pre-1997 for this position.
What you’ll be doing:
In your designated area working in a team, you’ll remove litter, leaves, detritus, illegal dumping, dog fouling, graffiti- street washing, and empty litter bins. During winter months you’ll support with snow clearance. Maintaining health and safety whilst working on the streets, you’ll report any environmental conditions such as hypodermic needles, asbestos, and hazardous waste to your Team Leader.
What you’ll need:
You’ll be able to carry out cleaning duties, using chemicals and equipment. You’ll be physically fit to be able to undertake continuous manual work and walk for long periods of time. You’ll have good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively in a team and respond politely to members of the public. With a positive attitude and enthusiasm, you’ll be committed to keeping our streets clean.
