Leicester Market is one of the city's most iconic destinations and our Food Hall plays an important role providing fresh produce and quality food to residents and visitors. We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Cleaner to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment across the market Food Hall and market offices, with the food hall being the primary area of responsibility.
This is more than a cleaning role. You will be part of a friendly team supporting one of the city's most historic and evolving markets as it continues through an exciting period of redevelopment. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and customer satisfaction.
The Market operates Monday to Saturday between 7am - 6pm. We are recruiting for an 18 hour per week position and are currently developing the shift pattern to support the operational needs for the service. The successful candidate will benefit from a varied working pattern, and there may be opportunities to work additional hours as required to support the operational needs of the service.
What you'll be doing:
As our food hall and market office cleaner, you'll ensure the food hall and market offices are maintained to a consistently high standard, with the food hall being your main area of responsibility. Your duties will include:
- Cleaning floors, counters, walkways, communal areas and offices to a high standard and in accordance with Health and Safety.
- Operating floor cleaning machinery safely and effectively in public and shared areas.
- Using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH guidelines.
- Collecting, segregating and disposing of waste appropriately, including food waste.
All duties are carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation, COSHH regulations and food hygiene standards, minimising risk and promoting safe working practices.
What you'll need:
We are looking for a reliable, positive and motivated individual who takes pride in delivering excellent cleaning standards. You'll have a good understanding of health and safety, including COSHH principles, be able to work independently using your own initiative, and communicate effectively with colleagues, traders and members of the public to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
