Job Summary

We’re seeking a skilled and compassionate Dermatology Consultant to join our team in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care. This role involves managing a diverse caseload of dermatological conditions, providing expert diagnosis and treatment, and contributing to multidisciplinary care planning.

Main Duties

  • Clinical Management: Provide expert care across a broad range of dermatological conditions, including skin cancer and inflammatory skin disease.
  • Procedural Work: Perform dermatological procedures such as biopsies, excisions, and minor surgeries in line with service needs.
  • Teledermoscopy: Manage a dedicated teledermoscopy caseload, ensuring timely and accurate remote assessment of skin lesions.
  • Clinical Leadership: Offer guidance and support to junior staff, contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions, and help shape service development.
  • Documentation & Governance: Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to governance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across specialties to ensure integrated and patient‑centred care.

  • Essential – Qualifications
    • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
    • On Specialist Register or due to obtain relevant CCT within 6 months of interview
    • Or Portfolio Pathway (CESR) or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
    • MRCP
    • Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • Desirable – Qualifications
    • Relevant Higher Degree e.g. MD; PhD; MSc
  • Essential – Clinical Experience
    • Broad based experience in Dermatology
    • Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
    • Knowledge and participation in CPD
    • Competence in Dermatology
  • Desirable – Clinical Experience
    • Experience of NHS
    • Wider experience, research and training in providing sub specialty service
    • Evidence of above average performance
    • Additional clinical qualification(s)
  • Essential – Clinical Governance
    • Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice

    • Knowledge of risk management
    • Knowledge of annual job planning/appraisal review process
