An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Sister / Charge Nurse to join Ward 11 in Withybush General Hospital. Ward 11 is an 18 bed Stroke and Rehabilitation Ward, with a 4 bed Acute Stroke Unit within it. Ward 11 delivers acute stroke care and facilitates rehabilitation with a Multi‑Disciplinary Team (MDT) approach.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly skilled nurse to provide professional leadership and management to support the Ward Manager. The post offers an exciting opportunity for a self‑motivated individual with a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in the daily running of the ward. The post holder will adopt a highly visible and accessible approach, leading by example and empowering their team to maintain patient safety, improve patient care and experience, and sustain high standards of nursing care. Applicants must be passionate about delivering excellence and be able to demonstrate effective leadership within a challenging environment.
Main Duties
- Combine excellent clinical practice with day‑to‑day shift coordination and undertake leadership and management responsibilities in support of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Support and work in conjunction with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, including deputising/taking charge of the clinical area/team in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Provide supervisory management and leadership skills in a clinical environment which can be complex and pressured.
- Provide professional nursing leadership and guidance (in line with NMC standards), clinical advice, and undertake management and monitoring activities to ensure the effective delivery of high standards of nursing care at all times.
- Work alongside the nursing team members and MDT, providing support to junior colleagues in the provision of direct care.
- Proactively contribute to the implementation of the NMC Standards for education, including the standards for student supervision and assessment.
- Provide leadership and role modelling in the development and mentorship of new and other staff.
- Demonstrate the Health Board's values and beliefs in everything that you do within the work environment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
