Community Consultant Paediatrician at Lehrman Cameron Studio, LLC (Hywel Dda University Health Board). Principal place of work: Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth. The role involves providing a first‑class community paediatrics service, developing sub‑speciality interests, and supporting teaching, research and audit.
Main duties of the job:
- Ensure provision and delivery of a first‑class clinical service.
- Provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
- Sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate.
- Undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board's procedures and operating policies.
- Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Board’s service plans.
- Maintain confidence of business plans and development strategies for the specialty or the Health Board.
- Core clinical expertise in Community Paediatrics.
- Experience and knowledge of running a sub‑specialty service.

Qualifications – Essential:
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice.
- On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date.
- Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration.
- Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills.
- Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training.
- Valid BLS Training.
- MRCPCH or equivalent.
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent).
- Knowledge and participation in CPD.
- Competence in Community Paediatrics.
- Extensive and broad‑based community paediatric experience to work at consultant level.
- Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding audit's role.
- Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence.
- Evidence of organising programmes and teaching medical students and junior doctors.
- Knowledge of the management and structure of the NHS.
Qualifications – Desirable:
- Appropriate Higher Degree e.g., MD, PhD, or MSc or equivalent.
- Community Paediatrics CESR.
- Experience of NHS.
- Wider experience, research, and training in providing sub‑specialty service.
- Evidence of above average performance.
- Additional clinical qualification(s).
- Knowledge of risk management.
- Knowledge of annual job planning/appraisal review process.
- Evidence of initiating, progressing, and concluding research projects with publication.
- Research degree.
- Organisation of further teaching programmes in medical education.
- ‘Training the Trainers’ experience.
