An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic nurse to join the colorectal service as a clinical nurse specialist in stoma care. The successful applicant will be based at Glangwili General Hospital and will work within the multidisciplinary setting across acute and community hospitals, nurse‑led clinics, patients’ homes and via telephone.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice and nursing care for patients undergoing stoma surgery for both benign and malignant disease.
- Support patients through adjustment to altered body image and function, promoting independence and a near‑normal lifestyle.
- Act as a resource for health care professionals, participating in teaching of patients and staff to improve and maintain quality standards of care for all stoma patients.
- Work as part of a team to deliver care in acute, community and clinic settings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant interest in stoma care and/or wound care.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for teaching.
- Experience in surgery or gastro‑enterology specialities is advantageous.
- Will undertake level 6/7 education relevant to the speciality and be mentor‑guided by experienced specialist nurse teams.
Other Requirements
- Ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome to apply.
Job Details
- Band 6 post, 37.5 hours per week. The post holder will be expected to travel to other hospital sites and within the community to meet service delivery expectations.
