We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and suitably qualified HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist, experienced in Haematology, to assume the position of Section Manager within the Blood Sciences Department at Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest.
Applicants should hold an MSc level qualification or equivalent IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology, be up to date with developments in the discipline and able to demonstrate relevant CPD in accordance with HCPC.
The newly refurbished Blood Science Lab provides acute and routine primary and secondary care services in Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide professional, technical and managerial leadership to all staff in Haematology.
- Train, assess and ensure competence of staff, monitor work practice in accordance with UKAS standards.
- Jointly responsible for staff absence and annual leave management.
- Work within a contractual shift pattern supporting round‑the‑clock services, including out‑of‑hours rota duties.
- Travel between sites in a timely manner and adopt a flexible approach to the needs of the service.
Qualifications and Knowledge:
- HCPC Registration
- Participation in CPD
- In‑depth knowledge of complex instrumentation / laboratory techniques and QA/QC procedures
- FIBMS / MSc or equivalent
- Desirable Management / supervisory qualification
- CPD Diploma
- Welsh speaker (Level 1)
Experience:
- Post registration clinical and technical experience at Specialist Biomedical Scientist level
Other:
- Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
- Flexible approach to needs of the service
Salary: £48,527 to £55,532 per annum (Band 7)
