The Sr.

Applications Engineer provides high-level engineering expertise, project management, and commercial support for the application of Starline high-amperage busduct products across customer projects.

This role leads technical strategy, mentors junior engineers, and ensures customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.

The engineer is responsible for drafting product offers, resolving technical issues, and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

What Will You Do?

  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of Starline products and their applications.
  • Design system layouts for busduct systems using site surveys, customer drawings, project tenders, and field input.
  • Utilize Auto CAD (mechanical and electrical) for layout and design tasks.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including catalog sheets, FAQs, technical briefs, reports, and installation instructions.
  • Provide technical and commercial support to sales teams and customers—onsite or remotely—on topics such as product estimation, RFQ support, ratings, regulatory compliance, safety, customization, troubleshooting, installation, and pricing.
  • Lead technical strategy to ensure alignment with customer needs and business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and documentation standards.
  • Participate in customer meetings and deliver presentations on product solutions and project updates.
  • Draft technical offers for busduct products, verifying application requirements based on customer needs and installation layouts.
  • Confirm technical specifications including operating temperature, power, installation parameters, materials, and quantities.
  • Support project management throughout the entire sales cycle.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct onsite measurements, troubleshooting, and rework as needed.
  • Serve as a technical liaison to the sales team.
  • Deliver training on busduct products to the sales network, customers, and installation contractors.
  • Support the Service Group by assisting with project management during installations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering (Electrical preferred), or 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with busbar/busduct systems required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical writing.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, primarily within Europe with potential for international travel.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong aptitude for electrical product design and application in power distribution and busduct systems.
  • Familiarity with IEC standards and certifications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Self-reliant, adaptable, and resourceful in dynamic environments.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing and construction environments; use of personal protective equipment (e. g., safety glasses, hearing protection) may be required.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 22kg occasionally.
