The Supporting Test Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of products through hands-on testing, data analysis, and support of laboratory operations. This role involves executing test procedures, maintaining equipment, assisting in quality control processes, and supporting compliance with industry standards. The engineer will work closely with design and production teams to validate product performance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Test Execution & Support: Carry out product and process testing based on agreed specifications. Assist in setting up test rigs, preparing samples, and recording accurate test data.
  • Laboratory Operations: Support the daily operations of the test lab, including equipment maintenance, calibration checks, and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Quality Control Assistance: Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assist in monitoring product quality during testing phases.
  • Compliance Support: Help ensure testing activities align with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, UL, LVD, EMC, UKCA, CE).
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Record and compile test results, assist in generating reports, and highlight any anomalies or non-conformances.
  • Problem Solving: Collaborate with design engineers to investigate test failures, assist in root cause analysis, and support corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas for improving test methods, lab efficiency, and product quality.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other departments to support project timelines and quality goals.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field is desirable.
  • Experience in a test lab or quality assurance environment is also desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Solid Edge Siemens Teamcenter, ARAS) is a plus.
  • Understanding and appreciation of relevant Standards and Directives (ISO, CE, UKCA, UL) is beneficial.
