Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Applications Engineering Drafter II to join the DPC Starline UK Team. This position reports to Reading, UK. The AE Drafter II plays a key role in supporting EMEA/APAC regions and is responsible for creating mechanical / electrical drawings of medium to high complexity supporting Application Engineers, Marketing and Sales departments. Works closely with Application Engineering Team members to provide customized busway/busduct related products and solutions for high profile customers.
Responsibilities
- Perform medium to high complexity design and drafting work, including component design, 2D/3D modeling, BIM overlays, concept drawings, and associated bills of material (BOMs) supporting Application Engineers, contractors, and end users.
- Manage drafting related processes and maintain CAD, REVIT, BIM360 library locations.
- Create design drawings for quotation and purchasing purposes; support prototype development efforts; assist Application Engineers and Production teams in resolving manufacturing issues related to concept designs, sheet metal enclosures, and custom product configurations while managing work through established queues.
- Organize the creation of demonstration units; work with Production to build prototypes of new designs.
- Assist with drawing and other support collateral for listing projects with IEC, VDE, UL, CSA, Intertek (ETL), etc.
- Participate in customer meetings, presentations, site visits and sales events where required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of time.
Qualifications
- Education: Two-year technical degree, Associates in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering / Drafting preferred or equivalent experience.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of drafting experience. Proficient with Autodesk design software, including AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit knowledge of electrical devices, power distribution equipment, and their applications. Prior experience with busway/busduct products is preferred.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of electrical devices, power distribution equipment, and their applications. Experienced user of AutoDESK programs – AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, BIM360. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including creation and maintenance of smart documents, templates, and technical content. Understanding of manufacturing concepts, processes, fabrication methods, and production environments preferred. Familiarity with the IEC standards and various IEC certifications. Ability to work effectively across multiple functional teams, including Engineering, Product Management, Production, Quality, Marketing, and Sales. Persuasive and articulate, with an ability to communicate and influence people at all levels, verbally, in writing and by presentation. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Stable, loyal and reliable, with a customer-focused personality. Self-reliant, flexible and resourceful.
Personal Qualities/Behaviors: The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time. Able to lift and carry up to 23KG.
