At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Line Leader to join the Starline Team in Reading, UK. Directs activity of the inventory management activities and acts as the expert for inventory accuracy inclusive of cycle counts and auditing, receiving processes, kitting creation and distribution and warehouse operations. Engages in direct problem solving to mitigate inventory flow constraints through direct intervention or escalation to relevant persons and/or department. The line leader is required to be as flexible as possible with working hours (overtime) at times of heavy workload.

Main Job Duties:

  • Promote and lead all aspects of health, safety and risk management within their area; hold or achieve IOSH Managing Safety certificate.
  • Coordinate the workflow within the department, as needed.
  • Maintain stock accuracy and associated data; identify stock discrepancies and drive root-cause/corrective actions.
  • Responsible for proper utilization of Syteline/Dispatch/Esker and other company software in support of production.
  • Actively participate in Tier 3 meetings and help provide solutions to issues inclusive of QRI1 & QRI2.
  • Provide performance feedback of the inventory/receiving/kitting members to the Team Supervisors/Production Manager on an ongoing basis and as part of the formal annual performance review cycle.
  • Identify issues with standards, work instructions and notify appropriate personnel to effect resolution.
  • Responsible for 6S compliance in all relevant areas (Goods In, Warehouse, Quarantine).
  • Direct the work of others in the department, inclusive of completing mandatory training courses/programs.
  • Be available to the company for surge periods of production to ensure deadline completions are achieved.
  • Manage holiday/absence reporting for staff ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Undertake and complete all company-mandated training.

Additional duties:

  • Allocation of work to other team members.
  • Ensuring Goods In items are processed in a timely manner.
  • Overseeing preparation and execution of the yearly physical inventory.
  • Preparing stock adjustment forms when required.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant Quality standards and procedures.
  • Month-end reporting.
  • Maintain area Health & Safety compliance, including inspection of racking and steps.
  • Able and willing to work overtime as required.

Line Specific Key Deliverables:

  • Deliver the company VRMA process in relation to suppliers.
  • Deliver the company SRMA process post-QA acceptance (including receiving SRMAs back into stock following QA check).
  • Compiling, completing, and presenting company reports.
  • Slow-moving stock identification, management and disposal.
  • Deliver company cycle count processes and lead annualized stock counts (includes oversight of cycle counting).
  • Stock amendment processes competency.
  • Forklift-truck qualified.
  • Operation and management of the company Kardex system.

Additional deliverables:

  • Investigate stock discrepancies.
  • Manage VRMA returns to suppliers, including follow-up where suppliers return the items.

Qualifications

Education:

  • GSCE/NVQ or equivalent
  • Minimum requirement: At least 1 year of inventory or warehouse management experience.
  • Ideal / preferred: 3–5 years of experience.

Experience:

Must have performed duties of Receiver/Inventory Clerk 1 minimum with preference to being at Receiver/Inventory 2 status. At least one year of product knowledge at Starline preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Perform all responsibilities of the Receiver/Inventory 2.
  • Act as the "expert" for warehousing operations.
  • Facilitate the training of new associates inclusive of direct instruction/tutoring.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning, knowledge of mathematics to manage stock keeping and maintain calculation precision.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficient product knowledge.
  • Proficient in inspecting, testing, and adjusting completed units to ensure units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements.

Additional skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing, and outside vendors.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently as well as in groups.
  • Ability to navigate warehouse environments and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to access high and low stock locations.
  • Availability to work yearly physical inventory and overtime when required.
