This role must be based in Denmark full time.

About the Role

Vice President, Head of Game Development responsible for shaping and leading the LEGO Group's global game development strategy and execution.

This position reports directly to the SVP of GAME and is a core member of the GAME leadership team.

  • Roadmap Execution
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously at different stages of development from concept to completion and act as the product’s champion internally and towards partners.
  • Partner with extraordinarily talented development teams to help them realize our combined creative vision and support them in all aspects that are required to achieve the highest quality products.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential product challenges, and facilitate solutions to keep product on track, all while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional gaming experiences.
  • Product Vision
  • Ensure each product has a clear investment thesis and is built to meet or exceed their success criteria and publisher goals.
  • Shape, influence, and advance the product vision for all games and supporting technologies, ensuring it meets market demands and enhances player engagement.
  • Partner with business development and creative teams to ensure we are making the right decisions and staying on track to achieve our overall strategy.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to create and implement effective strategies for new game titles and related products that inspire creativity and innovation.
  • Ensure alignment of game development initiatives with the LEGO Group’s overarching vision and strategic goals, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Team Leadership
  • Clearly communicate project objectives, set priorities, and offer guidance to ensure that teams are aligned and focused, promoting a playful, caring and supportive environment.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a key point of contact for collaboration with various stakeholders across the organization, facilitating effective communication and teamwork.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal areas to ensure cohesive game development processes that reflect the LEGO Group’s commitment to quality.
  • Prospecting New Studio Partners
  • Actively prospect and evaluate new external development studios to diversify and strengthen our gaming portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role within the gaming industry, with a proven track record in game development.
  • Expert‑level understanding of the game development process (ideally from hands‑on experience leading development teams).
  • Combines expert‑level technical understanding with visionary critical thinking, informed by a solid grasp of evolving market trends, player behavior, and emerging technologies.
  • An inspiring and empathetic leader known for building and mentoring high‑performing, cross‑disciplinary teams and cultivating a culture where creativity, collaboration, and fun thrive.
  • Highly effective communicator and multi‑functional collaborator, able to bridge creative, technical, and business domains.
