As our Senior Software Engineer, you'll build and operate digital retail experiences that power LEGO®.com, the LEGO Insiders App, and associated commerce platforms. You'll work within a cross-functional product team to deliver customer-facing features and scalable backend services using JavaScript and TypeScript. This role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews, and driving engineering excellence. You'll take ownership of complex technical challenges that span applications, services, and infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

  • Delivered production-grade applications using JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Built solutions using React, Next.js, or cloud-native microservices
  • Implemented AWS, GraphQL, and CI/CD engineering practices in live environments
  • Applied AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or similar, to improve software delivery
  • Led critical technical initiatives and coached engineers through code review practices
  • Designed and operated large-scale distributed systems with measurable improvements in performance, reliability, or scalability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Developed advanced CSS solutions, accessibility features, and cross-device optimisation
  • Implemented event-driven architectures and API platform capabilities

What you'll build

  • Deliver significant features and enhancements across Shopper Technology products.
  • Scale high-traffic digital commerce experiences.
  • Solve challenges that span frontend applications, APIs, microservices, and infrastructure.
  • Improve performance, reliability, security, and developer productivity.
  • Identify and resolve scalability and operational issues across production services.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices and the adoption of AI-assisted development.

If you've worked in a role where you delivered production-grade JavaScript or TypeScript applications, built and supported GraphQL, REST, or microservice architectures, and implemented CI/CD pipelines or Infrastructure as Code solutions, you'll feel at home here. What matters most is a track record of improving software quality, operating large-scale systems, and helping other engineers succeed.

Life on the team

You'll join Shopper Technology within Digital Product Engineering, the team responsible for customer-facing digital commerce experiences at the LEGO Group. We build experiences that help customers discover, purchase, and engage with products across digital channels. You'll gain exposure to modern engineering practices, large-scale commerce systems, and cross-functional product development. We work in interdisciplinary product squads and collaborate closely with product and design partners. Our hybrid rhythm includes office collaboration three days each week. We value ownership across system boundaries, strong problem-solving, continuous improvement, customer-focused thinking, and collaboration across disciplines.

Success looks like

Success means becoming a trusted technical contributor who consistently delivers high-quality software, strengthens engineering standards through mentoring, and takes ownership of production services. Over the next 12 to 18 months, the team will continue evolving LEGO.com and its digital commerce platforms, scale experiences globally, enhance engagement across web and mobile channels, and expand the use of AI-assisted engineering and modern cloud practices. You'll work closely with Product Managers, Digital Designers, Software Engineers, Engineering Leaders, Platform and Infrastructure teams, Mobile and Web product teams, and Ecommerce and Retail teams.
