Company Overview

LEGO Digital Play will bring the LEGO brand into digital entertainment in new, innovative, and wholly‑owned ways. Our mission is to ensure the LEGO Brand remains as powerfully a part of children’s lives in the coming decades as it has ever been. We aim to reach every kid on the planet, their parents, and adult fans of LEGO—and provide them with meaningful, magical, and playful new experiences. We are at the earliest phases of this new company, offering a unique opportunity to build a new entity for the world's most beloved and trusted brand. Our culture is open, collaborative, intellectually rigorous, and creatively vibrant.

Role Overview

We are seeking Software Engineers to build and operate the engineering capabilities that make this platform real. The Developer Platform covers SDKs and APIs, validation and policy services, asset and content pipelines, engine integrations and developer tooling, and we are hiring across several specialisations to cover this surface area. You will build and maintain components within the platform, partner with product and studio teams to understand how the platform is used, and contribute to the standards that hold the platform together. We work across the areas below and you will typically contribute most in one or two of them. Tell us where you bring strength and where you would want to grow:

  • Backend services and cloud infrastructure for developer‑facing platforms.
  • SDKs, APIs and client libraries used by other engineering teams.
  • Engine and runtime integration, such as Unity, Unreal or comparable environments.
  • 3D asset pipelines, content systems and authoring tools.
  • Validation, policy, rules and certification services.
  • Developer experience, reference implementations and tooling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain platform components in your area of focus, whether SDKs, backend services, engine integrations, asset pipelines or developer tooling, with attention to reliability and maintainability.
  • Work with platform leadership, product partners and other engineers to turn priorities into well‑scoped technical work.
  • Contribute to delivery quality across testing, CI/CD, observability and release management for the components you work on.
  • Apply the platform's technical standards across assets, metadata, versioning, schemas and API design, and flag where they need to evolve.
  • Work with engine, tools and game teams to understand how the platform is used and to help it fit cleanly into their workflows.
  • Build with governance in mind so your work is secure, compliant and aligned with brand, safety and policy requirements for child‑safe digital experiences.
  • Participate in design and code reviews, and share what you learn with the rest of the team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, STEM field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience building and shipping non‑trivial systems, with components running in production.
  • Working knowledge of at least one of the platform specialisation areas listed above, with curiosity to learn more about the others.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages relevant to your domain, with the ability to stay hands‑on through implementation, debugging and code review.
  • Familiarity with software development at scale, including CI/CD, automated testing and observability.
  • Sensitivity to performance and scale in the systems you build, treating them as design concerns rather than afterthoughts.
  • Exposure to entertainment or interactive content software, in any of games, engines, computer graphics, asset and content pipelines, or creative tools.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across studios, product and cross‑functional partners.

Nice to have

  • Awareness of governance across security, privacy, trust and safety, IP and brand controls and child‑safe or regulated digital environments.
  • Experience with backend or networked systems where performance, scale or latency matter, in any of distributed services, real‑time networking or data infrastructure.
  • Experience with 3D asset pipelines, semantic content systems, procedural generation or hybrid physical‑digital workflows.
  • Experience with provenance, attribution, identity, permissions or entitlement systems in creator or UGC ecosystems.
  • Exposure to platform capabilities used by multiple internal teams or external developers, including reference implementations or technical documentation.
