Leggwork have partnered with a Tier 1 construction contractor, who are currently turning over £1.2bn nationwide through their speciality in delivering a diverse portfolio of High Rise Commercial and Residential projects across the UK, with a blend of both office and site-based responsibilities. Position: Design Manager Location: Nationwide (Project Dependant) Salary/Benefits: Negotiable (DOE) + Yearly Bonus, Expenses, Car Allowance The primary focus is to lead the design management function from contract award, driving the design of complex projects by leveraging construction expertise to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions in collaboration with the design team. The role will also involve applying value engineering principles to ensure the best outcomes for all parties and supporting a smooth construction phase by utilising a deep understanding of site management practices, risk mitigation, cost control, and coordination. Key Responsibilities: Lead the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring designs align with client specifications and comply with regulatory standards. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop cost-effective and efficient design solutions. Oversee the project design budget and schedule to ensure timely and within-budget delivery. Act as the main liaison with the client team, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Maintain clear and proactive communication with the client, ensuring all agreed actions are executed and issues are resolved to their satisfaction. Lead design team meetings, providing regular progress updates to senior management. Ensure all projects comply with company standards and industry regulations. Foster seamless communication between all project stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives. Implement and uphold rigorous quality control procedures throughout the design and construction process. Requirements: Proven experience as a Design Manager with a main contractor, particularly in high-rise projects. A strong knowledge of current CDM regulations, Building Regulations, and the Building Safety Act is essential Experience managing document control systems.
