The Legendre Group's Engineering Department is seeking a Senior Methods Engineer based in London. This new role is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual eager to contribute to the growth of our international offices.
About the Role:
- Reporting to the Group Temporary Works & Methods Director in France and the Preconstruction Director in London, you will lead the temporary works and method studies for the construction projects in London and the Channel Islands during both the preconstruction and execution phases.
- Collaborate closely with estimating, design, and construction teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Lead temporary works and methods design activities for preconstruction and construction project phases.
- Analyse projects at the preconstruction stage and develop innovative engineering solutions for construction methodologies.
- Prepare site installation plan, logistics studies, project methodology and phasing plan.
- Develop temporary works and method design documentation, including day-by-day sequence of works, method statements, formwork and temporary works design brief.
- Provide design solutions for a variety of temporary works such as excavations, working platforms, formwork, falsework, scaffolding, or selection of construction plants and equipment, including lifting equipment.
- Collaborate with temporary works designers, check engineers, structural engineers, and supply chain partners to enhance health, safety, and production standards.
- Support Legendre's self-delivery structural activities, focusing on concrete frame delivery, with detailed method, formwork, and temporary works studies.
- Produce construction programme, using planning and project management software, such as Asta Powerproject.
- Organise and manage the workload schedule for Methods activities for Legendre International.
- Opportunity to work for Group Legendre project outside of the UK (International and France).
- Work closely with the Estimating Team to price the Preliminaries booklet and gather accurate supply chain feedback to inform tender estimates.
Profile:
- Proven experience as a Senior Method Engineer in the construction industry.
- Civil or Structural Engineering Degree, with at least 5 years' experience in methods or design departments, whether for contractors, subcontractors, specialist suppliers, or consultants.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE) is preferred or willingness to pursue membership.
- You have passed the relevant Temporary Works Design and Coordinator courses.
- Strong knowledge of UK legislation applicable to construction, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM 2015, and BS EN 5975.
- Experience in building new build and refurbishment projects (Cut and carve, façade retention, complex urban project).
- Strong technical expertise of reinforced concrete frame and temporary works.
- Ability to create sketches, 3D model views, and detailed construction methodologies.
- Competent in CAD, BIM, Revit, and Navisworks for 3D modelling and visualisation.
- Excellent communication skills across all project levels. You are meticulous, adaptable, well-organised, and capable of building strong relationships.
- Proficiency in French in a professional context is highly desirable.
