About Legatics
Legatics is one of the world's leading LegalTech scale-ups. We put users at the heart of our design to provide legal transaction experiences that everybody loves, and we're on a mission to transform the market for legal services worldwide. Legatics is a transaction management platform that streamlines the way lawyers collaborate and close deals, transforming traditional paper and email based processes into simple, highly automated software that frees lawyers from administrative tasks and improves profitability. Our customers include some of the world's top law firms, and Legatics has been used on live transactions originating in more than 20 countries.
The role
We are looking for an Engineer who thinks in systems and outcomes, not just code. As AI-assisted development becomes core to how we build, the most valuable engineers are those who deeply understand the problem they are solving and can direct powerful tools to solve it well. You will sit at the intersection of product and engineering: shaping what we build, understanding how the pieces fit together, and using modern AI tooling to ship high-quality work quickly. We care more about whether you understand what needs solving and can verify it's been solved well, rather than about years spent writing code by hand. This is not a role for someone who only wants tightly scoped tickets. It is for someone who wants to understand the 'why', challenge assumptions, and take ownership of outcomes.
What you'd be doing
- Build, ship and maintain features across our platform, owning problems from understanding through to delivery.
- Work closely with product and customers to translate real user and commercial needs into well-designed technical solutions.
- Direct AI tools (such as Claude Code) to work efficiently, while applying your own judgement to verify, refine and stand behind everything that ships.
- Reason about how systems fit together: data flows, integrations, edge cases and the downstream impact of changes.
- Contribute to technical decisions, code quality and the guardrails that let us move fast safely.
- Collaborate with engineers who set architectural direction, and grow your own influence over time.
What we need from you
- Strong problem framing and communication: you can articulate what needs solving and why, not just how.
- Solid, demonstrable software engineering foundations: you can read an unfamiliar codebase, reason about architecture, and write maintainable, well-tested code.
- A genuinely product-focused, systems-thinking mindset: you care about user outcomes and you naturally see how moving parts connect.
- Sound judgement when working with AI tooling: able to direct, review and correct AI-generated output rather than accept it uncritically.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ownership in a small, fast-moving team.
- UK-based and able to travel to our London office roughly twice a month.
Bonus points (not essential)
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted or agentic coding tools (Claude Code, or similar).
- Exposure to B2B SaaS, regulated industries or LegalTech.
- Experience collaborating directly with Product and Customers.
What we offer you
- Competitive salary (depending on experience)
- 25 days holiday per year (plus public holidays).
- Early Finish Fridays - on the last Friday of every month, we finish at lunchtime!
- Pension with NEST.
- Personal Learning & Development budget.
- Enhanced parental leave policies so you can spend more time with your family.
- Lots of opportunities for accelerated professional development and career progression.
- Work alongside a supportive and talented team with the opportunity to grow one of the world's leading LegalTech scale-ups.
- A warm, genuinely collaborative culture and an awesome team; and
- Regular socials.
