The Opportunity

We are seeking an NQ to 1 PQE English-qualified lawyer to join our Employment practice as a Solicitor. In this role, you will support a portfolio of SME, mid-market and enterprise clients, advising on a wide range of employment law and health and safety matters. • Managing redundancy and TUPE processes for clients.

This role is well-suited to a qualified lawyer with broad employment law exposure, who is comfortable managing matters end-to-end in a fast-paced, high-volume practice. You need to be confident in communicating directly with clients and delivering clear, practical, and commercially focused advice. While we would ideally like the successful candidate to be based in our Manchester office, we are open to flexible and fully remote working arrangements for the right person.

What You’ll Be Doing

Under the supervision of your seniors, a typical day may include (among other things, and depending on your practice area):

  • Providing oral and written advice to clients on a broad range of legal matters (including as part of our industry-leading Legal Advice Consultation service).
  • Drafting and advising on a broad range of employment and health and safety law matters.
  • Conducting legal research.
  • Participating in role plays to improve your client service skills, or having a team lunch on the rooftop.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You are a recently qualified solicitor in England and Wales with at least 6 months of demonstrated experience in employment law assisting employers.
  • Experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Confident assisting employers across a diverse client base, from SMEs to larger corporates.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high technical and client service standards.
  • Comfortable with direct client engagement, including delivering clear, pragmatic, and commercially focused advice.
  • Commercially minded, proactive, and aligned with a modern, client-centric legal services model.

The Perks

  • Forward-thinking environment with accelerated growth opportunities for high performers.
  • Welcoming office environment in Ancoats and hybrid working.
  • 25 days holiday (excluding bank holidays), enhanced maternity pay, plus contractual sick pay, paid volunteering, and birthday leave.
  • Private medical insurance (post probation).
  • Annual budget to spend on external learning and development.
  • Regular team socials and events.
