Job Description
We\’re looking for a commercially minded and collaborative Senior Legal Counsel to support our Affordable Homes business. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of real estate transactions that make a meaningful difference to communities across the UK. You\’ll be part of a supportive legal team, working closely with investment and operational colleagues to deliver high-quality legal advice and help us manage legal and reputational risk.
What you\’ll be doing:
- Providing legal advice on real estate transactions across the Affordable Homes portfolio
- Negotiating and managing contracts including sale, development, lease and funding agreements
- Supporting due diligence processes for acquisitions and disposals
- Advising on operational legal matters and regulatory compliance
- Collaborating with internal teams and external counsel to deliver commercial outcomes
- Coaching deal teams on legal risks and supporting self-service where appropriate
- Reviewing and developing standard documents and legal policies
- Keeping up to date with legal developments and sharing knowledge across the team
Qualifications
Who we\’re looking for:
- Qualified solicitor with at least 4 years\’ post-qualification experience in real estate law
- Strong understanding of social housing regulation and affordable housing transactions
- Experience negotiating and managing complex property contracts
- Ability to provide clear, commercially focused legal advice
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management capability
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and risk mitigation
- Commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
