Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to earn while you learn? The L&G Actuarial internship is an 8-week programme, running from June to August. During this time, you’ll have the chance to develop your skills, gain valuable insights, and get hands-on work experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to see if a graduate role in our actuarial team is the right fit for you. Actuarial work is central to ensuring a profitable, well-run insurance business and your work will support the success of a FTSE 100 company. Our actuaries work throughout the business measuring, predicting and managing areas of the business with the aim of giving its customers ‘value for money’. Over the course of the internship, you will have the chance to interact with different teams, hear from senior speakers and network with your fellow interns.

Some of the day-to-day activities could include:

  • Performing actuarial investigations and calculations to produce profitability information and management reports for our products.
  • Managing the production of regular experience investigations for our products in order to understand the impact of changes in mortality, morbidity, expenses and persistency.
  • Delivering the company and statutory financial reporting results to tight deadlines, including the supporting commentary.
  • Collecting and analysing market data to provide insight and aid the pricing actuaries in setting insurance prices.
  • Summarising insurance product performance for presentation to senior management to support decision making.
  • Supporting actuaries with product development, commercial deals, and pricing innovation.

But most importantly you will be learning new skills and gaining knowledge of how our business works! Please note we only accept one application per recruitment cycle for our internship roles so please consider all placement positions before applying, as your first application will be considered your only application. You will also need to have your own valid right to work in the UK.

We are looking for people with an inquisitive mind and a passion for learning. No prior industry experience? No problem! We’re more interested in seeing that you have the tools to develop quickly. Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Undergraduate, in your penultimate year of study (graduating in 2027) and on track to receive a 2:1 in a numerate subject (ideally Maths or a STEM subject).
  • Strong numerical skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility and a team-player attitude.
  • Great communication skills.
  • A highly organised individual with the ability to prioritise effectively.

Please remember, we can only accept one application per person across all our intern programmes. So, think carefully about which programme you want to apply for, as your first application will be the only one considered.

Whatever your role, we reward ability, performance and attitude with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Your hard work will be rewarded when you join us. At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all. If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views, and experiences. Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel. We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time, term-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can. It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.
