Job Description

We’re looking for a Governance, Risk and Controls Assurance Senior Manager to join our Institutional Retirement COO team. This is a key leadership role where you’ll shape and deliver assurance activity within the First Line, strengthening the control environment and helping the business manage risk effectively. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll provide insight, challenge and direction while driving consistency, innovation and high standards across governance and control practices.

This is a great opportunity to influence how assurance is delivered, embed best practice and lead a team in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and delivering assurance activities to enhance the control environment and manage risk effectively
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for Governance, Risk and Controls across the First Line
  • Assessing assurance coverage across the three lines of defence and identifying areas requiring further review
  • Developing and embedding assurance methodologies aligned to internal policies and industry best practice
  • Leading control programmes and evaluating the effectiveness of existing controls to drive continuous improvement
  • Designing and implementing technology-enabled and data-driven approaches to control testing
  • Producing assurance reporting and supporting stakeholder engagement to drive timely issue resolution
  • Leading, developing and motivating a team to deliver against strategic objectives and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability

Who we're looking for:

  • Strong experience within governance, risk and controls, within financial services
  • Knowledge of control frameworks such as COSO and understanding of non-financial risk areas
  • Experience designing and implementing assurance frameworks within a First Line environment
  • Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders across complex organisations
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions and prioritise activity
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and confidently
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net-zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in-person experience

Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel.
