Legal & General (L&G) is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor. We have been safeguarding people's financial futures since 1836, striving to build a better society while improving the lives of our customers and creating value for shareholders. We are one of the world's largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities. Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions: we are an international player in pension risk transfer, in UK and US life insurance, and in UK workplace pensions and retirement income.

We are looking for a Technology & Data Risk Manager to help us safeguard our technology landscape and support the effective management of risks across a diverse and evolving environment. In this role, you will work with colleagues across the business to strengthen our technology resilience, enhance our risk oversight, and influence how we approach emerging technologies, including AI. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact, contribute to major transformation programmes, and grow your expertise in a collaborative and supportive team.

What you will be doing:

  • Providing risk oversight, insight and support across technology, cyber, data and transformation risk domains
  • Identifying and assessing technology-related risks, including cyber threats, system issues and data risks
  • Engaging with first and second line teams, offering constructive challenge and advisory across global business functions
  • Planning and delivering risk assurance activity, working alongside internal stakeholders and Group Internal Audit
  • Supporting continuous improvement of risk reporting and governance across committees and senior forums
  • Partnering with Compliance to interpret regulatory change and ensure requirements are reflected in risk practices
  • Championing key IT and emerging technology risks, sharing insight and promoting awareness across the organisation
  • Supporting and developing colleagues, helping to build capability within the wider technology and risk community

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience working in IT risk, technology assurance, cyber, data or transformation risk (1LOD, 2LOD or 3LOD)
  • Strong understanding of IT operations, technology lifecycle, service management and risk frameworks
  • Ability to analyse complex technical information and communicate it clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams and senior levels
  • Knowledge of major change delivery methodologies (agile and waterfall)
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations relating to technology and operational resilience (e.g., PRA, UK Corporate Governance)
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound judgements
  • A collaborative, inclusive and proactive approach to achieving positive outcomes for the business and customers

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years' service. There is also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • Discounts for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We are creating net-zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in-person experience

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all. If you join us, you will be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views, and experiences. Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel. We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time, term-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can. It doesn't matter if you don't meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.
