Job Description

What you'll be doing:
- Collaborating with the team to develop clean, maintainable features and resolve end-to-end issues, utilising various approaches to ensure we deliver outstanding outcomes to our customers efficiently and effectively.
- Contributing to the management of technical debt, ensuring Legal & General’s systems remain secure, resilient, and reliable.
- Enhancing and refining testing methodologies within the team to ensure the highest quality customer experience, with a strong focus on security, usability, and accessibility.
- Participating in code reviews, emphasising both functional and non-functional requirements such as performance, resiliency, maintainability, and security, to consistently produce high-quality, safe software for our customers.
- Engaging in continuous improvement efforts related to security, quality, deployment, monitoring, and operations, enabling the seamless release and operation of safe, performant, and resilient systems in production.
- Actively participating in developer team meetings to keep colleagues informed and foster a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Communicating effectively and collaborating continuously with team members to ensure smooth delivery of development activities within the sprint timebox.
- Pursuing ongoing skill development through relevant training in your role discipline.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- Proven hands-on experience in building microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Solid understanding of clean code principles and architecture concepts such as SOLID and Onion.
- Demonstrated expertise in crafting large-scale, well-optimised, and maintainable software features, ensuring robust and efficient solutions.
- Good grasp of at least one layered backend application architecture, including three-tier, hexagonal, or onion.
- Proficiency in test-driven development and familiarity with the testing pyramid.
- Comprehensive understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and other release strategies.
- Proven ability to analyse, debug, and resolve highly complex issues, showcasing your critical thinking and technical prowess.
- Excellent communication skills, with strong proficiency in both spoken and written English.
