An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Property Solicitor / Legal Executive (PQE 0–2) to join our client, a forward‑thinking law firm in Totnes. This role is well suited to an ambitious individual who is keen to develop their career within a growing and aspirational firm operating in line with a clear business plan. The successful candidate will join a supportive and experienced team that is committed to training, development, and progression. Over time, there is scope for the individual to take on increasing responsibility, in line with their skills, experience, and career aspirations. This is a fee‑earning role, supporting the property team with a wide range of day‑to‑day transactional and administrative tasks across commercial and residential property matters.
Main Responsibilities
- Managing their own caseload where appropriate
- Supporting colleagues on individual transactions and wider project‑based work
- Opening and maintaining case files
- Providing cost estimates to new clients
- Recording time in line with the firm’s time recording policies
- Conducting title reviews
- Drafting and negotiating leases and transfers
- Obtaining and reporting on title information from the Land Registry
- Dealing with Land Registry requisitions
- Assisting with, and where appropriate managing, commercial property matters
- Assisting with, and where appropriate managing, residential conveyancing transactions
- Obtaining and reporting on property searches
- Attending meetings and preparing accurate attendance notes
- Preparing Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) forms
- Promoting the firm’s vision and values in all client interactions
- Delivering a high‑quality, professional service to clients and colleagues, both in person and by telephone, responding promptly and appropriately to requests
- Maintaining up‑to‑date legal knowledge through publications, updates, and relevant training
