A well-established and forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Family Solicitor to join its growing Care & Capacity team in Torquay. The Role
The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload involving care proceedings, capacity issues, and Court of Protection matters, providing expert advice and representation to vulnerable clients and their families. Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of Care and Capacity matters from instruction through to conclusion.
- Representing parents, family members, children, and protected parties in care proceedings.
- Advising clients on matters relating to mental capacity and Court of Protection applications.
- Preparing legal documents, statements, applications, and court bundles.
- Conducting advocacy where appropriate or instructing counsel.
- Attending court hearings, client meetings, and professional conferences.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
- Ensuring compliance with SRA regulations and firm procedures.
- Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the department.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive.
- Previous experience handling Care Proceedings and/or Court of Protection matters.
- Membership of the Law Society Children Panel would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Excellent client care and communication skills.
- Strong advocacy and case management abilities.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach when working with vulnerable clients.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively under pressure.
