Our client is a well-established and respected regional law firm seeking a motivated Residential Conveyancing Paralegal to join their busy Tiverton office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in residential property law to further develop their skills within a supportive and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the smooth running of the residential property department.
  • Assist with the full lifecycle of residential conveyancing transactions from instruction through to completion.
  • Prepare draft contract packs and ensure all necessary documentation is gathered for each property matter.
  • Handle enquiries from clients, estate agents, solicitors and other stakeholders, providing clear and timely responses.
  • Order and review property searches, obtain Land Registry documents and manage other pre-contract checks.
  • Prepare completion statements, handle financial elements of transactions and liaise with mortgage lenders where required.
  • Coordinate exchange and completion, keeping all parties updated throughout the process.
  • Manage post-completion tasks including SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.
  • Draft correspondence, maintain accurate records and manage files using case-management software.
  • Provide general administrative support to the department, including document production and, where required, occasional reception cover.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with compliance, regulatory and data-protection requirements.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience working in a residential conveyancing setting, ideally in a fee-earning or assistant capacity.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to document preparation and file management.
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive, professional and client-focused attitude.
  • Good IT capability, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and case-management systems.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
