A well-established and forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Family Solicitor to join its growing Care & Capacity team in Torquay. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced legal professionals in a collaborative environment, handling a varied caseload of public law children matters and Court of Protection work. The Role The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload involving care proceedings, capacity issues, and Court of Protection matters, providing expert advice and representation to vulnerable clients and their families. Key Responsibilities * Managing a caseload of Care and Capacity matters from instruction through to conclusion. * Representing parents, family members, children, and protected parties in care proceedings. * Advising clients on matters relating to mental capacity and Court of Protection applications. * Preparing legal documents, statements, applications, and court bundles. * Conducting advocacy where appropriate or instructing counsel. * Attending court hearings, client meetings, and professional conferences. * Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, healthcare professionals, and external agencies. * Ensuring compliance with SRA regulations and firm procedures. * Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the department. Candidate Requirements * Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive. * Previous experience handling Care Proceedings and/or Court of Protection matters. * Membership of the Law Society Children Panel would be advantageous but is not essential. * Excellent client care and communication skills. * Strong advocacy and case management abilities.Compassionate and empathetic approach when working with vulnerable clients. * Ability to manage a busy caseload and work effectively under pressure. * A team-oriented attitude with a commitment to delivering outstanding service.
