Our client, a well-established and reputable law firm in Somerset, is seeking a Legal Compliance Officer to join their team. This is a key position within the business, supporting the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and playing an integral role in maintaining and developing the firm’s compliance and risk framework.
The Role: This is a varied and responsible role suited to someone who is confident working independently and able to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the COLP with all aspects of risk and compliance
- Assisting the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)
- Maintaining and updating the firm’s office manual, policies, and procedures
- Acting as a first point of contact for internal compliance queries
- Assisting with complaints handling and claims management
- Managing and maintaining the firm’s compliance platform (Riliance), including delivering training to staff
- Coordinating monthly risk and compliance meetings, including preparing agendas and minutes
- Producing monthly and annual compliance reports and supporting documentation
The Candidate: The successful candidate will have previous legal experience and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, particularly SRA rules. You will be:
- A self-motivated individual with the ability to work on your own initiative
- Confident, organised, and able to take ownership of your responsibilities
- A strong communicator with a proactive and solution-focused approach
- IT literate, with the ability to manage systems and documentation effectively
- Approachable and professional in your manner
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle will be required for this role.
