The Role

Location: Office-based
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

As a Family Law Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting Fee Earners and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the department. This is a varied and rewarding position that requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding client care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing legal documents and correspondence, including audio typing
  • Assisting with the preparation of court bundles and hearing packs
  • Managing diaries, appointments, and workflow schedules
  • Communicating with clients in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Supporting file management and compliance procedures
  • Providing administrative support to Fee Earners as required

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary
  • Experience working within Family Law
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure
  • Good IT skills and experience using case management systems
  • Professional, reliable, and team-oriented approach
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of Children Law and Public Law proceedings
  • Experience handling Legal Aid matters
  • Familiarity with legal research tools and software
