An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join a well-established and highly regarded law firm in Exeter.
Our client is seeking a motivated and technically capable lawyer to join their specialist Wealth Management team, dealing with a varied caseload of Tax, Trusts and Succession matters.
The position offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-value matters, alongside experienced colleagues in a supportive and collaborative environment.
The role can be considered at Solicitor, Associate or Senior Associate level, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a varied caseload of Private Client matters, including complex estate administration, inheritance tax planning, trusts and succession planning.
- Advising clients on inheritance tax matters, including lifetime planning and tax-efficient succession strategies.
- Advising on the creation, administration, amendment and termination of trusts.
- Drafting complex Wills, including those incorporating trusts and bespoke provisions.
- Handling complex and high-value estate administration matters.
- Providing practical and commercially focused advice to high-net-worth individuals, business owners and other private clients.
- Working closely with colleagues on complex matters while independently progressing appropriate cases.
- Maintaining excellent client relationships and delivering a high standard of client care.
Skills and Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with relevant Private Client experience.
- Ideally around 3–4 years’ PQE or equivalent experience, although candidates with different levels of experience will be considered.
- Strong experience in inheritance tax planning, trusts and succession matters.
- Experience handling complex or high-value estate administration.
- Confident drafting Wills incorporating trusts and associated legal documentation.
- Excellent technical knowledge, research and drafting skills.
- Ability to manage an appropriate caseload independently while working collaboratively with colleagues.
- Strong communication, organisational and client care skills.
- A proactive, commercially aware and professional approach.
- STEP qualification, or working towards it, would be advantageous but is not essential
