The Legal Services Board (LSB) is the independent oversight regulator for legal services in England and Wales. Established by the Legal Services Act 2007, we have operated since 2008 and held full statutory powers since 2009. Sponsored by the Ministry of Justice yet fully independent of both government and the legal profession, we play a unique role spanning economic, professional, and consumer protection regulation.

As Director, Policy and Strategy, you will be one of the organisation’s most visible leaders—engaging with professional, media and governmental audiences while serving as a key internal enabler of performance and culture. Key responsibilities:

  • Playing a full and active role in the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the overall leadership and effective running of the LSB.
  • Leading the Policy and Strategy Directorate, ensuring a high‑performing, inclusive and motivated team.
  • Overseeing delivery of our “Reshaping legal services” strategy and reporting progress to the Board.
  • Shaping the LSB’s long‑term strategic direction and guiding development of the annual business plan and a new three-year plan.
  • Providing leadership to the research team, ensuring outputs are rigorous, high‑quality and accessible.
  • Supporting the design and execution of impactful communications and engagement strategies.
  • Representing the executive at Board meetings and acting as an ambassador for the LSB at external events and speaking engagements.

What we offer:

  • Alongside a competitive salary of £110,756, the LSB provides an outstanding total reward package, including:
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
