About the Role
A well-established and growing law firm is seeking an experienced Head of Personal Injury & Medical Negligence to lead its specialist litigation team. The successful candidate will oversee a small specialist team while managing their own caseload of high-street personal injury matters and selected medical negligence cases. The firm's work is sourced directly from clients and does not involve claims management companies. The role offers flexible working arrangements, including fully remote, hybrid, or office-based working, although the team is primarily based in the Salisbury office.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of personal injury claims from instruction through to settlement or trial
- Handling selected medical negligence matters alongside personal injury work
- Leading and supporting a specialist personal injury and medical negligence team
- Delegating work effectively and supervising junior members of the department where required
- Providing clear and practical legal advice with a strong client-focused approach
- Maintaining excellent standards of client care and communication
- Contributing to the ongoing development and growth of the litigation department
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and professional standards
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years UK Post Qualification experience in personal injury and medical negligence work
- Strong experience managing personal injury litigation matters independently
- Ideally some team management or supervisory experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a pressurised environment and adapt to changing circumstances
- Proven billing performance and case management experience
- Strong delegation and leadership skills
- A collaborative and proactive approach to team working
Remote Working
While the firm would ideally prefer an office-based or hybrid candidate, fully remote working is available for candidates with sufficient experience to manage matters independently. The rest of the team is currently office-based in Salisbury.
Benefits and Progression
- Competitive salary depending on experience
- Flexible working options including fully remote and hybrid arrangements
- Opportunity to lead and shape a specialist litigation team
- Exposure to a varied mix of personal injury and medical negligence work
- Supportive team environment within an established law firm
