About the Role
A well-established and growing law firm is seeking an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join its highly regarded Legal 500 Court of Protection team based in Northampton. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor to manage their own caseload while working within a supportive and collaborative Private Client team.
The successful candidate will handle a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters, supporting vulnerable clients and their families with financial affairs and decision-making processes. The role involves working closely with protected parties, their families, care providers, and financial institutions while ensuring the highest standards of client care.
The firm offers a strong team culture, structured career development plans, and the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of its Court of Protection practice. You will also benefit from support from the wider Private Client team and the firm's marketing department in developing the department further.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of Court of Protection matters independently
- Preparing and submitting Court of Protection applications and forms
- Managing the day-to-day financial affairs of Court of Protection clients
- Visiting clients and protected parties in their homes or care settings
- Corresponding with family members, care staff, and relevant third parties
- Liaising with banks, financial institutions, and other professional advisors
- Preparing and managing Court of Protection annual accounts
- Taking and responding to enquiries from clients and third parties
- Making and advising on best interest decisions in accordance with relevant legislation
- Instructing third parties where required to progress matters
- Delegating and supervising tasks for junior fee earners where appropriate
- Maintaining the highest standards of client care and professional practice
Requirements
- UK Qualified Solicitor with ideally 5+ years' PQE
- Proven experience handling Court of Protection matters independently
- Strong knowledge of Court of Protection procedures and financial management for protected parties
- Ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable clients
- Experience supervising or delegating work to junior staff would be advantageous
- A collaborative attitude and willingness to contribute to the continued growth of the team
