We are working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm based in Leicester City Centre that is seeking an experienced Family Solicitor to lead and develop its Family Law Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and ambitious solicitor with a minimum of 4 years' PQE who is looking to take the next step into a leadership position or is already operating at a senior level.

The successful candidate will oversee a varied caseload of privately funded and legal aid family matters whilst playing a key role in the strategic growth and development of the department. The firm offers genuine autonomy, strong support from senior management, and the opportunity to shape the future direction of an expanding family law practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Family Law Department.
  • Handle a varied caseload of family law matters, including divorce and separation, financial remedy proceedings, private children matters, public law children proceedings, domestic abuse and injunction applications, cohabitation and relationship disputes.
  • Conduct advocacy at court hearings where appropriate.
  • Supervise and support junior fee earners and support staff.
  • Drive departmental growth through business development and networking activities.
  • Maintain high standards of client care and regulatory compliance.
  • Build and maintain strong referral relationships.
  • Assist in developing and expanding the firm's family mediation and alternative dispute resolution services.
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with a minimum of 4 years' PQE in Family Law.
  • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of family law matters.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience would be advantageous.
  • Confident advocate with experience attending court hearings.
  • Experience managing both privately funded and legal aid matters is desirable.
  • Excellent client care, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commercially minded with a proactive approach to business development.
  • Ability to work independently whilst leading and mentoring a team.
