Job Summary: This role leads the development and writing of LeO's strategic publications - including the Business Plan and Budget, Annual Report and Accounts, and corporate strategies - ensuring they are engaging, high-quality, and clearly communicate LeO's performance and ambitions. Through this work, the postholder will support the Head of Communications, Engagement and Impact, the OLC Chair and LeO's Chief Ombudsman in delivering accountability to key stakeholders such as the Legal Services Board, Ministry of Justice, legal regulators and consumer representatives. They will also work collaboratively with colleagues in the Communications, Engagement and Impact team, and more broadly across LeO, to raise the organisation's profile, influence and impact.
Role Purpose: The Strategic Publications and Content Manager is a recently-created role at the heart of LeO's Communications, Engagement and Impact team, with responsibility for leading the development and writing of LeO's major corporate publications. These publications are critical vehicles for delivering accountability, building relationships, and telling LeO's story. They are among the most strategic and highest profile content that LeO produces. In this role, you will both write content personally and collate contributions from others, ensuring that our publications and other external communications are engaging, impactful and underpinned by a clear and compelling narrative about LeO's performance and strategy.
You will take the lead in preparing:
- The draft and final Budget Acceptance Criteria documents for the Legal Services Board (detailing the Office for Legal Complaints' proposed resourcing plans for LeO);
- The draft (for consultation) and final OLC Business Plan and Budget documents;
- The OLC's strategy for LeO for 2027-30 (a draft for consultation and the final strategy);
- The OLC's Annual Report and Accounts;
- Other consultations and reporting as required.
The role will support the Head of Communications, Engagement and Impact, the OLC Chair and LeO's Chief Ombudsman in providing accountability - via both high-quality strategic publications and broader content - to the Legal Services Board, Ministry of Justice, legal profession, legal service regulators and consumer representatives. There will be a particular initial focus on working with the OLC Board and LeO's Executive Team to develop the OLC's 2027-30 strategy for LeO and the publications and resources to support it. The draft strategy will be published for consultation alongside the OLC's Business Plan and Budget for LeO for 2027/28 in November 2026.
The role will also work closely with other managers in the Communications, Engagement and Impact team to craft engaging external communications - including for LeO's social media channels and website - that help to raise LeO's profile and impact with key audiences, and ensure LeO's insight and perspective influence improvements in legal services and sector complaint-handling. The role will involve managing and coaching junior colleagues as appropriate, helping to build the capacity and capability of LeO's Communications, Engagement and Impact team. More broadly, you will work effectively with colleagues at all levels to ensure a collaborative approach to the achievement of LeO's overall strategic and Business Plan objectives. You will value, role-model and share a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and to continuous improvement.
