A leading global company is seeking an Employment Counsel to support and advise on all things employment law-related in Europe, with a strong emphasis on the United Kingdom and Ireland (and also covering other EU countries, as needed).
Role Details:
- Location: Remote (East Coast or EU/UK Preference)
- Hours: 40 Hours / Week
- Duration: 6-months
- Pay: $100/hr -$110/hr [$200,000-$220,000 annualized]
Responsibilities
- Provide advice and counseling on a broad spectrum of employment law issues in the European region, including: workforce restructuring, recruiting, inclusion and diversity, employee relations, performance management, redundancy, notice and consultation requirements, leaves of absence and accommodations, wage and hour, pay equity, internal investigations, mandatory employment-related reporting obligations, occupational safety, sick leave, compensation and benefits, privacy, contingent workers, and immigration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and manage projects with a team-oriented approach.
- Evaluate employment practices, policies, and processes to assess and execute priorities, and ensure compliance.
- Draft and review employment related agreements and templates.
- Investigate and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment related inquiries.
- Conduct audits, employment classification reviews, and support other compliance efforts.
- Assist in managing outside counsel on labor and employment matters, and manage employment litigation as needed.
- Assist in developing and conducting training and education programs for employees, managers, and the People team.
- Collaborate with local counsel to advise the People team and management on international employment and immigration issues.
Qualifications
- Qualified barrister or solicitor with a minimum of 7 years of Post-Qualified Experience focusing on employment law, with an emphasis on UK and Ireland employment matters. Experience advising on broader European-region employment issues preferred.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous situations with a problem solving approach.
- Prior in-house experience or substantial experience directly advising non-attorney clients.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a growing legal team and cross-functionally with members at all levels of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills, team-oriented attitude, and superior attention to detail.
- Ability to evaluate risk in light of business and practical considerations and make clear recommendations.
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks effectively and independently.
- Employment litigation experience preferred.
- Experience advising on European pay data reporting.
- Experience working across international time zones preferred.
