A leading global automotive company is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support its European litigation team on a contract basis; managing and resolving pre-claim and Small Claims Court matters across England and Wales.
This role will support a European Controversies team, managing consumer-related disputes across England and Wales. The successful candidate will take ownership of Small Claims Court matters from initial assessment through resolution, including advocacy at hearings.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong legal drafting, case management, and stakeholder coordination skills, with the opportunity to work closely with legal and business teams in a fast-paced corporate environment.
What You'll Do
- Manage a rolling caseload of Small Claims Court matters from inception through final resolution
- Draft, review, and submit legal documents, including correspondence, statements of case, witness statements, and court applications
- Represent the business as an advocate in Small Claims Court hearings
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy and broader team initiatives
- Maintain accurate case records and reporting within case management systems
- Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., Customer Service, Engineering, Sales) to gather evidence and technical information
- Handle escalations from customers and external legal representatives
- Support the broader litigation team on complex matters and special projects
What We're Looking For
- Academic legal qualification (e.g., LLB or GDL) required
- CILEX Litigation Certification strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing and advocating Small Claims Court matters in England & Wales
- Strong understanding of Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and consumer protection law (including sale of goods and product liability)
- Experience working in-house or within a large law firm environment preferred
- Comfortable working under supervision of a qualified lawyer in line with regulatory requirements
