Legal & General is looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to lead a strategic Data Streaming Platform within Data Operations. The platform moves operational data from a range of source systems into the Retail Data Hub and other strategic data platforms. It reduces pressure on legacy technology, makes information available through a more resilient and scalable technology stack, and supports important digital customer and business services.

This is a dedicated technical Product Owner role. You will be accountable for the product’s direction, roadmap, priorities and delivery outcomes, working closely with engineers, architects, DevOps colleagues and senior stakeholders. You will not need to be a hands‑on engineer, but you will need the technical understanding and credibility to lead complex platform delivery. The immediate agenda includes improving platform stability, onboarding additional data sources, balancing technical debt with new capability and positioning the product for continued growth.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Defining and communicating the platform vision, strategy and roadmap
  • Owning and prioritising the technical product backlog
  • Improving platform stability, resilience, scalability and operational performance
  • Driving the onboarding of new data sources and platform consumers
  • Balancing new features, technical debt, modernisation, risk and regulatory priorities
  • Leading engineers and technical delivery colleagues through clear priorities and outcomes
  • Influencing senior stakeholders and creating alignment around investment and delivery decisions
  • Defining and communicating measures of platform adoption, performance and business value

Who we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience owning a technical IT product, platform or shared technology service
  • Accountability for product direction, roadmap, prioritisation and delivery outcomes
  • Strong Agile experience within engineering or technical delivery teams
  • Experience managing technical backlogs and balancing competing delivery priorities
  • Confidence influencing senior stakeholders and making evidence‑based decisions
  • Understanding of platform resilience, service performance and technical sustainability
  • Ability to work independently while building alignment across multiple teams
  • Clear communication, sound judgement and a collaborative leadership style

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance‑related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand‑new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience
