We are looking for an experienced and collaborative Product Manager to join our Retail Protection team. In this role, you will take ownership of a portfolio of life, critical illness and income protection products, ensuring they deliver strong customer outcomes, fair value and commercial success. Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, you will play a key role in shaping and evolving our product proposition while balancing customer needs, regulatory requirements and business objectives.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of the protection market, including competitor offerings, customer needs and regulatory developments.
  • Identifying commercial opportunities through data analysis and customer insight, building robust business cases to enhance product propositions.
  • Collaborating with distribution and internal stakeholders to ensure products are clearly understood and effectively positioned in the market.
  • Leading and motivating cross‑functional, agile teams to deliver customer‑focused and commercially driven outcomes.
  • Managing the full product lifecycle using established frameworks to support ongoing development and optimisation.
  • Monitoring product performance, customer outcomes and operational risks, ensuring timely actions are taken where required.
  • Preparing and presenting materials for governance forums and contributing to internal and external industry discussions.
  • Building strong relationships with partners, including reinsurers, to refine product solutions and enhance market insight.

Who we're looking for:

  • Strong experience managing and developing protection products such as life, critical illness or income protection.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the UK protection market, including regulation and customer considerations.
  • Proven ability to interpret data and market trends to identify opportunities and drive informed decision‑making.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer outcomes and business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams and leading or supporting high‑performing delivery environments.
  • Strong written and analytical skills, including developing clear and compelling business cases or reports.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive positive change.
