We’re building a modern, enterprise‑scale data platform that helps our Retail business make smarter, data‑driven decisions every day. Our Data Operations team enables this by designing, running and continuously improving the Retail & Analytics Data Hub (RADH), a strategic data platform at the heart of analytics and reporting. We’re looking for a Platform Specialist to take technical ownership of RADH and help shape its future. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of platform engineering, data architecture and Snowflake innovation, and who wants to influence how data platforms evolve at scale.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the ongoing development of the Retail & Analytics Data Hub as a strategic enterprise data platform
  • Introducing and optimising Snowflake capabilities to improve performance, scalability and reliability
  • Acting as a Snowflake subject‑matter expert, shaping best practice across the organisation
  • Improving automation through CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and orchestration frameworks
  • Embedding observability across the platform, including monitoring, alerting, lineage and data quality
  • Implementing and influencing robust governance, security and access controls in partnership with Information Security
  • Collaborating with engineers, analysts and product teams to support platform adoption and delivery
  • Optimising platform costs while maintaining agreed service levels for availability, performance and data quality

Who we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in data platform or data engineering roles within cloud environments
  • Deep hands‑on knowledge of Snowflake and its core features and capabilities
  • Confidence working with SQL and modern data engineering tooling and patterns
  • Experience designing or supporting enterprise‑scale data platforms and architectures
  • Understanding of data governance, security, access management and compliance
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • A collaborative mindset with a desire to support and enable others
  • Curiosity, adaptability and an interest in continuous improvement and emerging technologies

Benefits:

  • Opportunity to participate in annual performance‑related bonus plan and share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance and Healthcare Plan for permanent employees
  • At least 25 days holiday plus public holidays; additional options for purchase and sale of holidays
  • Competitive family leave
  • Electric car scheme through tax‑efficient salary sacrifice for permanent employees
  • Various discounts on L&G products and high‑street retailers
  • Net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 with sustainable offices across the UK

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options, including part‑time, term‑time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can. It does not matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.
