At Legal & General Home Finance, we’re looking for an experienced Underwriter to join our team and help us deliver high-quality, compliant decisions that support our customers and business partners. What you’ll be doing:
- Assessing and authorising applications within mandate, escalating complex cases as needed
- Delivering high-quality technical underwriting aligned with audit and compliance standards
- Communicating effectively with customers and third parties via phone, email and letter
- Coaching and mentoring team members to build technical capability and confidence
- Attending meetings with internal teams and external partners to strengthen relationships
- Monitoring service levels and identifying areas for improvement in team performance
- Analysing underwriting data to spot trends and support decision-making
- Supporting change initiatives with a flexible and proactive approach
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in financial services or a related industry
- Minimum of GCSEs in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of AML, TCF, and Data Protection regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy
- A collaborative team player with a flexible mindset
- Confidence in handling customer interactions, including complaints
- Analytical skills to interpret data and identify actionable insights
