Legal & General (L&G) is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor. We’ve been safeguarding people’s financial futures since 1836, and strive to build a better society, while improving the lives of our customers and creating value for shareholders. We are one of the world’s largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities. Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions: we are an international player in pension risk transfer, in UK and US life insurance, and in UK workplace pensions and retirement income. Our global asset management business provides our clients and partners with complex, responsible investment solutions, working internationally across public and private markets.

We are currently looking to hire a Multi Asset Analyst to join L&G Asset Management Rates and Inflation team on a 12 month Maternity Cover. The Rates and Inflation Team manage the government bond and swap exposure across a multi-billion dollar range of portfolios: benchmarked credit and aggregate mandates as well as absolute return pooled funds. They work closely with the Multi-Asset Research and Strategy Team who are responsible for proposing tactical asset-allocation strategies, alongside researching, developing and maintaining alternative risk premia (i.e. factor-based) models for L&G’s multi-asset fund range. Both teams use scalable and robust tools and source the data required to run them. We are looking for a multi-asset analyst who will focus on maintaining and enhancing tools used for devising and monitoring dynamic investment strategy across both capabilities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Modelling investment strategies across a wide range of asset classes including derivatives
  • Maintaining and updating databases that support investment processes
  • Supporting the analytics function, including performing ad‑hoc analysis of datasets and risk metrics and producing summary analytics tools
  • Researching and documenting new asset classes and investment ideas
  • Enhancing existing analytical tools that underpin asset allocation decisions
  • Supporting team‑wide activities and cross-team collaboration
  • Ensuring analytical outputs are robust, accurate and well documented
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of quantitative analysis within the investment process

Who we’re looking for:

  • Ability to undertake complex coding projects to enhance and improve the asset allocation toolkit
  • Expertise in statistics and/or econometrics
  • Coding aptitude using VBA, Python, MATLAB or similar applications
  • Advanced diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables balancing pragmatism with a need for robustness
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills suited to quantitative‑minded team members
  • Experience delivering clear, auditable work to a high standard and to tight deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of complex asset classes and derivatives with confidence in forming and expressing original views

Benefits:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance‑related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand‑new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are the many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience
