Job Description

Were Legal & General, one of the UKs leading financial services groups. Were looking for a strategic and collaborative Head of Product Taxes to join our Group Finance team. This is a unique opportunity to lead on all aspects of product tax compliance and governance across our business, ensuring we meet our obligations while supporting innovation and growth. What youll be doing:

  1. Leading product tax advice, governance and risk management across the Group
  2. Partnering with Retail and Institutional teams to support business initiatives
  3. Providing technical input on new product launches and legislative changes
  4. Researching and analysing tax law to produce clear, actionable insights
  5. Managing relationships with HMRC, advisors and industry bodies
  6. Overseeing compliance with tax risk control frameworks and internal audits
  7. Supporting the development of efficient tax systems and processes
  8. Acting as the escalation point for all product tax queries and issues

Qualifications – Who were looking for:

  1. A recognised professional tax or financial qualification (e.g., CTA, ACA, AIIT) or equivalent experience
  2. Strong knowledge of UK tax legislation, especially in pensions, ISAs and savings products
  3. Experience in financial services, ideally with exposure to both industry and advisory roles
  4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly
  5. Proven ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  6. Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  7. Experience overseeing compliance and risk frameworks
  8. A collaborative leader who can influence and support cross-functional teams
