We are looking for an experienced, qualified life actuary to lead our actuarial reporting capabilities in Bermuda. Working with an international finance team, you will help to shape robust reporting processes, strengthen controls, and provide clear insight across IFRS, Solvency UK, Bermuda EBS and other related reporting frameworks. This is a senior leadership role which combines technical depth with commercial judgement, collaborative leadership and a practical approach to continuous improvement.
Please Note - this role must be based in Bermuda and business travel may be required to the UK, US or other territories occasionally.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading the development and maintenance of actuarial reporting systems, controls and processes in Bermuda and across relevant Group teams to support financial reporting and monitoring of reinsurance business.
- Overseeing delivery of actuarial reporting and analysis across IFRS, Solvency UK, Economic Balance Sheet, CISSA and other relevant reporting measures.
- Providing clear recommendations on assumptions, methodology, capital and profitability matters to senior management, Boards and relevant governance committees.
- Supporting the international development of L&G Reinsurance by assessing operational, financial and reporting implications of proposals and new business activity.
- Reviewing, developing and maintaining financial management, business planning, forecasting and management information capabilities for L&G Re.
- Developing and maintaining a robust actuarial control framework, ensuring reporting processes are complete, accurate and aligned with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Using AI-enabled tools pragmatically where appropriate to improve analysis, documentation and process efficiency, while applying sound judgement around risks and controls.
- Providing leadership, people management and development for actuarial reporting colleagues, including overseas team members, fostering an inclusive, engaged and high-performing team.
Qualifications Who we're looking for:
- Fully qualified life actuary.
- Seven years of annuities reporting experience, with strong technical expertise in actuarial reporting under IFRS and Solvency frameworks (including but not limited to UK, EU or Bermuda).
- Strong technical understanding of actuarial reporting, capital and solvency requirements; familiarity with Bermuda EBS would be beneficial.
- Experience designing, improving and embedding efficient actuarial processes with appropriate controls and governance.
- Ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate clear, practical recommendations to senior stakeholders, Boards and technical audiences.
- Commercial awareness and the confidence to balance technical, regulatory and business considerations when advising on decisions.
- Experience managing and developing people, with the ability to build engaged, inclusive and high performing teams.
