Job Description
We are recruiting an External Communications Manager for our Corporate Affairs team. This role supports L&G’s asset management division, a major global investor with £1.122 trillion in assets, across public and private markets. The role involves engaging with external audiences such as media, the public, and international agencies to uphold and enhance our brand profile and reputation as a responsible investor. Creativity, agility, and understanding of regulatory contexts are advantageous. We believe reputation is a long-term investment, and our success depends on being trusted and valued by stakeholders, clients, customers, and employees.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing strategic external communications to protect and promote the firm\’s profile, managing risks, and fostering relationships with journalists.
- Collaborating with internal teams to identify opportunities and create engaging content, researching topics, and gathering information from diverse sources.
- Promoting products and business priorities through strategic communications, including social media and employee communications, working with external agencies as needed.
- Supporting external communications for pensions and investments, showcasing expertise, and sharing media coverage timely with stakeholders, including evaluation of media impact.
- Ensuring communications adhere to compliance, governance, and risk policies, aligning with business ethics and stakeholder expectations.
- Working closely with the Corporate Affairs community and marketing team to deliver campaigns aligned with business strategy.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have:
- Knowledge of external and internal communication, campaigns, PR, and media relations practices.
- A strong understanding of the UK pensions landscape, financial advice, and investments; familiarity with sectors like Real Estate, Private Credit, Venture Capital, or Infrastructure is beneficial.
- Experience in a communications consultancy, media relations, or within financial services or asset management sectors.
- Proven ability to develop and execute PR strategies for high-profile organizations in the UK.
- Strong media contacts within the UK and possibly internationally.
- A global outlook and experience working across different markets is advantageous.
- A collaborative, organized, and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
